US Markets At New All Time Highs: Have We Reached A Profit Taking Zone And Possibly A Temporary Trend Reversal?
The Indexes Continue To Break New Highs
The S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq index continue to climb to new all time highs following a sharp rally that has continued over recent months. Despite the optimism in the markets and the positive sentiment surrounding technology stocks, from a technical perspective signs are beginning to appear that raise significant questions regarding what comes next.
Are The Gains Driven By Real Growth Or By Dollar Weakness?
On one hand, there are those who argue that American companies continue to grow strongly and therefore the rise in the indexes is fully justified. On the other hand, there are also those who believe that a significant part of the rally is actually driven by the weakening of the US dollar and the expansion of the money supply in the markets.
When the dollar weakens, more dollars are required to purchase the same assets. In such a situation, even if the real value of the companies does not change dramatically, stock prices can still continue to rise simply because the purchasing power of the currency itself is declining.
Some believe the rally is a combination of both factors together. Both genuine company growth and the influence of low interest rates, high liquidity and dollar weakness.
At the same time, there are also many investors who believe that some stocks and indexes are already trading at levels significantly above their true economic value.
Technically The Market Has Reached A Significant Area
From a technical perspective, we see that the indexes have reached a highly significant resistance area. These are areas where in the past many sharp breakout moves ended and in some cases major corrections even began from these exact zones, lasting weeks and sometimes months.
In addition, some indexes have reached full movement targets in terms of wave structures, channels and technical formations. In many cases these are exactly the zones where profit taking and selling pressure begin to appear.
Is A Drop Of More Than 10 Percent Ahead?
In our opinion, as long as the indexes remain in the current extreme zones, there is a high probability of a significant correction from current levels. Based on the technical behavior of similar areas in the past, we expect a decline that could reach more than 10 percent and possibly even beyond that, alongside a period of weakness and a pause in the upward trend that has continued in recent months.

Risk In The Market Is Starting To Rise
It is important to understand that even during periods when the market appears extremely strong, risk does not disappear. In many cases, it is דווקא when the market feels too safe that the first signs of weakness begin to appear.
At the moment, money continues to flow into the US market, but at the same time more and more signs are beginning to appear that buyers at higher price levels are starting to become exhausted.
Conclusion
Is this only a temporary pause before another continuation higher, or the beginning of a broader correction? Only time will tell, but from our perspective the market has reached an area where risk levels are increasing significantly.
